Michael and Janet Go to China!

Two years ago God did something crazy in my life. He asked me to drop out of school, and follow him to China. This was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. God called me out of my comfort zone, and away from all of my plans for the future. I left for China not knowing where God would take my life from there. I wondered if I would ever finish college or if he would continue calling me abroad. I loved living in China, but it was the hardest year of my life. I struggled with loneliness, and went through many struggles. Through all of these struggles I learned the faithfulness of God. Overseas missions is difficult, but worth it. I found wonderful friendships, and learned of the necessity of overseas missions. I returned to the US last summer, knowing that God was calling me back to Asia.

Going to China taught me that I wanted to move abroad, and that I wanted to continue studying business so I could use it for missions. I returned to school in the fall, and even with my year in China I was able to graduate on time in May with a degree in International Business. God truly blesses us when we step out in faith and follow him. Though I questioned his plans when I left for China, he showed me how much better his plans are.

Currently I am applying to serve for a three-year term in China with CMF International and I am so excited to see how God will allow me to serve through the ministry there. The team ministers to the Chinese through English Bible studies, community outreach, work among the migrant community, and children education. After considering my skills and passions, the team has asked me to join them as the project manager of their urban poverty ministry.

There are many unknowns in my life as I seek to follow God’s calling to missions. I began dating Michael six months ago. We have been seeking to put God first in our lives, and are praying that God would reveal to us whether we are to go into missions together or not. He has made it clear to us that we must visit China and the CMF team together. We’re prayerfully considering how God might use us together in the ministry there. Michael and I are planning to visit China September 13-22 to meet with the team and see all aspects of the ministry.

It is my prayer that you will join with us in this vision trip. First and foremost, I ask for your prayers. Please pray for Michael and me, that God would clearly reveal his path for us. God has taken us on an incredible journey so far, and we are praying that this trip would provide clarity for our future. Pray for the team, that we would connect well and be one in spirit. Also, pray for the people of China, that God will begin working in their lives and creating a passion to know and speak the truth of the gospel.

Secondly, I ask that you would consider supporting this vision trip financially. I would ask that you only give after prayerful consideration and with a cheerful heart. The total cost of the trip is $3,800. This cost includes both of our meals, lodging, airfare, transportation, visas, and other expenses.
