Reverend Michael A. Cross, son, brother, uncle, friend, perfect father and grandfather.
Our dad is a proud man and has always been a giver, he taught us to be the same way. But we also know that our pride will block blessings, we are asking friends, family and those with kind hearts that wish to help us in our time of sorrow to donate, your good deed will not go undone. So, thank you in advance and any amount will be sufficient.
Our father was recently diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer on Aug. 3, 2017 that has spreaded to his abdomen and then spiraled out of control rapidly. This was unbeknown to our family because doctors in Florida misdiagnosed him and fell to report the cancer in a timely manner, so we could get proper treatment. They also missed failing kidneys and a stomach infection that was taking him out faster than the cancer.
Due to the lack of care and communication from medical staff, my oldest sister and I moved him to Atlanta, Georgia in efforts of saving his life; unfortunately, it was late in the game. We are so thankful to the Emory University Midtown Hospital team: Dr. Margaret Runner and her team as well as Dr. Jennifer Hill from Palliative, they were awesome and the nurses on the 2nd and 7th floor were dynamic. We are forever grateful.
Now it's time to prepare to give our father the perfect homegoing celebration. Unfortunately his life insurance policy lapsed when he fell sick and there is no money to handle the upcoming funeral expenses. We are looking to raise $10,000 for funeral arrangements including shipping him back to Florida which was his request.
He has not passed yet, but he is currently in hospice and everything is slowing down quickly. Doctor's say any day.
