Michael Stone Stem Cell Transplant

Donation protected
Hi! Welcome to our GoFund Me page for Michael Stone's Stem Cell Transplant.

For those of you who don't know him, Mike is a grandfather, father, and just all around amazing man, one of the kindest you'll ever meet. The whole medical history is below but we just wanted to give you the short story of what our goal is. We are trying to save Michael's life. Right now that means getting him to and through a Stem Cell Transplant. Michael and Jennifer (his wife) will have to move up to Stanford University Hospital for the duration of his treatment which could take up to a year. This also means that Jen will not be able to work for that time so they will have no form of income. Mike's sister Karen is a 10 point match (thank goodness) for stem cells but she will have to travel at least twice from London to donate. Last but not least, the majority of Michael's support system (his son, daughter and extended family) is in Los Angeles and scattered throughout the country, including his new grandson and he does not want to miss watching him grow. All the money raised here will go to the cost of living for Mike and Jen up at the university, loss of income, and travel expenses for Karen and the rest of his support system. Obviously we have a long fight ahead of us. We are so grateful that you are taking the time to read our story and we appreciate any help you can give us. No amount is too small. Thank you so much in advance.

This is the Medical Mumbo Jumbo part.

Michael was diagnosed in December 2013 with Sezary Syndrome, a very rare stage four Cutaneous T-cell Lymphoma. After 8 months of different chemotherapy treatments he went into remission. He celebrated by going on a wonderful trip for his 40th wedding anniversary with his wife, Jennifer. Upon returning home, the Sezary Syndrome had come back as well as the sibling disease Mycosis Fungoides with Large Cell Transformation. This form of MF manifests as hundreds of uncomfortable tumors covering the entire top half of his body. We have now tried many different chemotherapies and trial drugs but still nothing seems to be working. At this point our oncology team believes our best chance for a sustained remission is a Stem Cell Transplant. This process will take anywhere from 8 months to a year to change his malignant blood system to his sister Karen's fabulously perfect blood system. This is our plight. We are all trying to stay strong and make Michael healthy again in hopes that he can go on another trip for his 50th anniversary.

Thank you very much for visiting our page. It means more to us than we could ever express.
