This is very difficult to compose, as it is painful to speak of someone that brought so much joy to so many using the words, “He was.” Those of us who are fortunate enough to be in a group of close, yet extended friends usually have a few in the group who take charge of keeping the group connected. What was so special about Michael is that he was one of those great people for every group of friends with which he was a part.
His love for his friends made being a part of his friendship network so incredible.  He always knew when it was time for his friends to get together, then just sat back and enjoyed everyone reuniting. He had impeccable relationship timing.
Many of us have had friends and family that have passed away early, about whom we have declared that “they loved life!” He was one of those souls, but where Michael took it to a different level is that he made everyone around him love life more, because we could not repress the happiness he made us see and feel. Even during challenging times. This is a challenging time for his family, as well as those of us who were blessed to have him in our lives.
Michael had a secret weapon when it came to his efforts to getting his friends together. That secret weapon is his awesome wife Janet. She knew how important it was for Michael to collect his friends for little gatherings, or take off to the hospital to be with a friend in need. Credit should be given where credit is due, and Janet just let Michael be Michael. We have all been the beneficiaries of her incredible understanding.
Now, to the opportunity at hand. Several of us were able to persuade Janet to allow us to create this GoFundMe campaign to help Max and Matt with upcoming college expenses. Although she was reluctant to agree, citing how generous friends have been through this very difficult 12+ months, we convinced her that there are many friends who want an opportunity to continue to help with future expenses that are going to be soon and significant. Janet, Michael and the boys would never expect anyone to feel obligated to donate one dime to help them out. Those of us putting this together have zero expectations, but this site makes us put up a goal. If you are inclined to donate a few bucks, the family will be forever grateful.  You can remain annonymous, but it is important for Janet and the boys to be able to thank everyone.  If it is not something that fits your situation, just know that Michael would smile that big smile and say, “no problem, I’m just glad you’re here.”
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
