Michael Medrano Surgery and Recovery Fund

Donation protected
On December 22, 2020, Michael Medrano was admitted to Covenant Hospital with extreme head pain, vomiting, and other symptoms consistent with a traumatic brain event. Doctors quickly found that he was suffering from a brain hemorrhage and acted to drain the bleeding and relieve some pressure in his brain. The bleeding has now stopped, however, there is still pressure and remaining fluid causing blindness in one eye, and surgery has been deemed necessary by his doctors.

This GoFundMe has been started to support Michael and Merina's family as they move through this next chapter of life. Michael is scheduled for surgery in early January and will require a lengthy stay in a rehabilitation facility following the procedure to ensure his motor skills aren't affected and re-learn those that are.

As it is the beginning of the year, the hospital is requiring a total of $7,000 to proceed with Michael's surgery. The requested amount of $20,000 is listed to take into consideration his time being out of work, the post-surgery stay, and that it is not known if the impacts of this will be temporary or permanent or what Michael's day-to-day life will look like moving forward.

Note: all proceeds will be directly given to Merina Gauna and Michael Medrano
