Dear Friends of Michael Hernan,
We are contacting you and asking for your help. A dear friend of ours hasn’t been fortunate in the last couple of years and very desperately needs our help. Michael Hernán, our beloved Flounder, is facing a second major health crisis in 18 months. Last year he beat cancer and was doing quite well headed into 2017. Unfortunately, he recently ran into heart troubles and was hospitalized with a major heart attack in April 2017. He had immediate surgery to open the blockage to his heart. That was a success. But a couple weeks later, he was admitted to the hospital once again because his heart was failing and needed another heart catheterization.
This recent health crisis for Michael has been very scary and eye opening. He has vowed to improve his lifestyle. More than a year ago he had quit smoking. “Los Chavales” (Mark Planty, Chris Watts, JU Watts, Aaron Kohn, Mike Florez, and myself) often get together with Michael and can assure you that his smoking has stopped. We believe Michael is on the right path to a healthier life. He is choosing to pursue a healthier lifestyle that includes a better diet and exercise.
Here’s where we need your help. Michael needs two medications and three months of heart rehabilitation. His heart was damaged and needs rehab three times weekly. Michael does not have health insurance that covers these things. On behalf of Los Chavales, and friends from ASM- we are asking for a financial contribution to Michael’s Go Fund Me page. No amount is too small. Our goal is to raise $15,000.
Erin Sheedy Daniell has very graciously offered to manage the Go Fund Me page and the disbursement. Michael is very adamant that this be transparent. We are as adamant that his dignity be respected. We’ve agreed that he will provide documentation to Erin supporting disbursement of funds, for the record. No…, we aren’t conning you all for a wild trip to Las Vegas. This is real… Seriously, we truly appreciate your generous support of our dear friend. Michael’s commitment is to respect that generosity and his health, and to lead a healthier and continued fulfilling life. His wife and two kids are equally grateful.
