Michael (Hawaii Jewelers) 'Ohana Fire Relief
Donation protected
Aloha,
My name is Phoenix and I'm creating this fundraiser to mitigate the loss that my family endured because of the Lahaina Wildfire. We have lost our home, our business, our cars, and nearly our lives. My 3 children have been born and raised in Maui, and they're still growing up. My husband and I have lived in Maui for nearly 30 years and, together, we owned a small jewelry shop on Front Street. My husband and I built this business together from the ground up, and after he passed away 9 months ago, it's been hard enough for me to stay strong to support my 3 children. Anyone who has ever dealt with my husband knows that he would drop everything to help his customers, especially those that we've built relationships with over 20+ years. We have worked 12 hours a day, 7 days a week, for over 20 years and my family and I had to leave everything behind in an attempt to save our own lives.
The wall of cars blocking all exits on Front St meant that my family had to hide in the seawall for many hours in an attempt to escape the flames that were engulfing Front Street. It was emotionally grueling to see everything in town that we had built up over 30 years blow up in an hour. The situation became worse so quickly that we only had time to leave with the clothes on our backs.
Because we owned a jewelry shop, much of our inventory was on consignment-- and we didn't get the chance to pay our suppliers before it all went up in flames. Any money raised will go towards paying back our suppliers so that they can keep their businesses and therefore pay their own employees, and support my 3 children. If you can find it in the kindness of your heart, please donate, anything helps. If you're unable to, please keep my family and all of Lahaina in your prayers as we try to get through these times of great loss. Please share this donation link on any platform that you can. Thank you for your kōkua.
Funds will be used for: Paying back jewelry suppliers (because of consignment) and allowing them to maintain their businesses, and helping my family get back on our feet
