Justice for Michael Clark

Donation protected
The morning of May 30th our 75-year-old father, Michael Clark was at Fort Logan National Cemetery placing flags on the graves of our fallen men and women that served our country. Little did we know that in the late hours of that evening the life of our father would change in ways no one could even imagine.

As many of you know, late that night officers responded to a call about an alleged assault in progress. Despite the “victim” being unable to keep her story straight and being extremely impaired, the officers went banging on our father’s door. They did not identify themselves as police. Our dad thought they must be the crazy new neighbor and grabbed a shark mouth sword in case he needed it for protection. He opened the door with no glasses (he has to wear in order to see clearly further than approximately a foot), and in his underwear.

Upon opening the door, the officer Hanning proceeded to brutally assault our dad with undue force. Immediately kicking and punching him in the head and then retreating. After the officer backed OUT of our father’s apartment. Our father complied with the officers commands and put his sword up on a bookshelf out of reach. 19 seconds AFTER that, the officer then decided to tase him. Our dad flew backwards, striking his head on a chair on the way down, cutting it open and bleeding. The taser and hit to his head rendered him unconscious. But the assault did not end there. After smashing his face into a bookshelf as his unconscious body was dragged out into the hallway, these two officers then put our father in handcuffs while kneeling on his father’s neck.

As a result of this attack our father has had heart complications, a stroke, surgeries, 3 stints in the ICU and the list is continuing to grow. Our father is far from being recovered, if he ever does fully recover.

Even though the physical attack happened to him on May 30th he is continuing to be victimized by the ISPD and the District Attorney. They smeared his good name by painting the picture with half-truths and false statements that impacted the medical care he has/is receiving and his reputation.

On top of all of this, due to the threats made by Brittany Odom, the supposed “victim” of the initial call, our father will not be able to go back to where he called home once or if he is recovered enough to live on his own again.

Our dad was never charged with a crime and it is heart-wrenching to watch him suffer and endure all that has happened as a result of this unprovoked, unnecessary, and unjustified attack. Our father has and would give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it, he would never in a million years assault someone.

We have had multiple inquiries from our support community on a GoFundMe to help with the unexpected costs and expenses. We are so thankful and blessed for all of the support we have been receiving. Due to the amount of people asking for a GoFundMe to help we have decided to set this one up. This is the ONLY GoFundMe we authorize. All money will go directly to our father’s expenses.
