Mike Bruno, my Dad, my best friend, much more than a father.

To all family and friends,

My father, Michael Francis Bruno has recently been released from the hospital under hospice care. This man has been fighting a 10-year battle with multiple surgeries for numerous health challenges with my Mother (Wendy Bruno) steadfast by his side. Due to congestive heart failure, kidney disease and several other complications my Mother now stays with him 24/7 making it impossible for her to return to work.

My parents live on a very modest budget funded mostly by Social Security. To cover funeral expenses and related home care I created this GoFundMe campaign to help both of my parents through this difficult time.

Mike, my Dad is now 72 and has lived a full life. At the age of 18 he entered the US Air Force and served his country as a Crew Chief in Korea and Vietnam. After four years of service he was honorable discharged ending his military career as Staff Sargent E5. He is by far the strongest and bravest person I have ever known. The men that served with him nicked named him “Mother Bruno” because he was always looking out for them.

When my Dad was 27 he met my Mother and they became best friends and married 4 years later. After 5 years of marriage I was born and became their pride and joy. Through the years maintaining a lifelong friendship and deep love while setting a great example of what love really is, a love I hope to have with someone.

Without his love I wouldn’t be the person I am today. Over the years my father has taught me countless life lessons. But the one that has stuck with me the most is NEVER GIVE UP! KEEP FIGHTING! No matter the odds to keep moving forward in life.

My father has the biggest heart and the kindest man you will ever meet. He has been my childhood role model, my biggest supporter and the best father anyone could ask for. During my baseball games he was my biggest fan. We could all hear his thundering cheer of “Let’s Go Bowie D” all the way to the dugout. He never missed a game.

His final wishes are to spend his remaining time with those he holds dearest to him. As his time ends we as a family are trying to mentally prepare for the upcoming emotional and financial challenges. Our goal is to raise $6,500.00, any donations will be greatly appreciated to help us through this time.
