Michael & Family need our help

Friends, Family and all who love Michael, Jenny & Nuala,
Our help is needed!!!!   At 8:30am on Friday September 21st, the fierce Michael Campbell was biking west on Beverly Blvd on his way to work when he was hit by a car.  He tried to stop and even screamed a warning at the car but the driver never even looked in his direction.  On impact, Michael flew off the bike, landing basically on his hands (some) and his face (a lot) and compressing his spine so that when he landed, he was effectively paralyzed -- apparently due to spinal shock. At first, he could not move or feel his limbs -- or feel anything. As you can imagine, that must have been a very dark time. Fortunately, the accident happened at Beverly and Laurel so Michael was very close to Cedars.
What Michael experienced is what the doctor called a “Spinal Concussion” – basically a severe bruising of the spinal column that happened when he had the rapid compression of his spine (when he landed,  for lack of a more graceful phrase, on his face). Because of the spinal swelling and injury caused by this, Michael first experienced the terror of full paralysis. This turned in time to extremely limited mobility and a great deal of nerve confusion (weird and intense pain and burning sensations on the backs of his hands and arms, leg numbness and a sensation of pins and needles like they’re asleep, etc.). His entire nervous system is completely out of whack!!!  As he heals the pain will decrease and the mobility will hopefully increase but it’s going to be a long long road to recovery….
Michael spent 6 days in the Neuro ICU (translation… massive expenses) and then was moved to a regular room (more expenses) and now he’s at an in-patient rehab facility for a minimum of 3 weeks, depending on his progress (cost continues to rise).
His spirits are high and his humor is in tact but its going to be a long time until Michael can do, for lack of a better description, the activities of daily life, much less go back to work. It’s even a challenge for him to hug Nuala right now because his nerve endings are on fire.
This is where our help is needed…this Go Fund Me has been started to help Michael, Jenny and Nuala through this incredibly difficult time. The pressure on Jenny, as you can imagine is insane.  The money raised here will be used to help with the mounting medical expenses, rent, childcare and all around life.
We are all aware life is f’ing expensive so any amount you can donate will be greatly appreciated.  Please feel free to pass this email along, post it on your social media etc etc.  Michael and Jenny have been there for a lot of us now it’s our turn to be there for them.

Much love,

Team Campbell
