Support Michael's Recovery

Donation protected
On July 5th, Michael was admitted to a hospital in Iowa, to be transferred to University of Nebraska Medical Center where he still is currently. Michael and his wife, Dion, were traveling from California in an RV to visit their granddaughter in North Carolina when Michael fell incredibly ill.

Beginning with a fever and loss of control of motion over his arms and legs, Michael has been in and out of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). He was diagnosed with multiple fissures in his esophagus that have been allowing an infection that developed in his spinal column to travel through to other vital parts of his body. Since being admitted, Michael has had multiple tubes inserted to remove infectious fluid from his lungs, has had a surgery to remove the hardware for a triple fusion of his vertebrae in his neck and has been unable to eat since the beginning of his stay, being given nutrients and sustenance through a feeding tube directly inserted into his stomach. A ventilator was in place for 3 days when his lungs were too weak with infection for him to breathe on his own, and since being in the hospital complications with his heart have arisen that will lead a pacemaker to be put in place. The doctors anticipate another month in the hospital until he can be moved to a rehabilitation facility to continue treatment.

During this time, they will have to remain in Omaha, Nebraska, 1,400 miles from family on either coast. The hospital bills will begin to add up, and the funds that were put aside for the trip are already diminishing. Emeryency funding and support for this type of situation is difficult to find due to not being residents of Nebraska and not being physically in California. We are looking to raise money to help Dion afford to stay in Omaha with Michael and to cover the cost of treatment and recovery.
