Micah's Dyslexia Tutoring

Donation protected
I've known Micah since he was knee high to a grasshopper. Well, not quite. He was about 6.

I was his teacher at a camp meeting that he wasn't interested in attending. My theme for the class that year was "The Whole Armor of God." Thankfully I was able to win him over with swords and shields. He and his family are special to me.

I bring a need before you that is near and dear to my heart. But first a little history.

In 2010, when Micah was only 11, he and his family took a huge leap of faith and went to Thailand as missionaries. They had only a few hundred dollars in their pockets. Their goal was to make the world a better place. And they have.

Through education they have given refugee children an opportunity to rise above their poverty level who otherwise wouldn't have a chance.  See their website: www.leadingtothelight.org

But now this missionary family, who has done so much to help others NEEDS OUR HELP. Here's the scoop.

Micah is thoughtful, bright, caring, and severely dyslexic. If you don't know about dyslexia, let me fill you in a little. Dyslexia makes it very difficult to learn to read or interpret words, letters, and other symbols, but it does not affect general intelligence. It's not just mixing up letters—and it's not something you outgrow.

I know. My son is also severely dyslexic. For the last year our family has spent thousands of dollars on specialized tutoring for my son. But my husband is an engineer and earns a good salary. The Rawlings have been living on a meager stipend during their many years of mission service.

Please join me in donating to help Micah get the tutoring he so desperately needs.

Psychological Evaluation: $1,400.
(Micah needs this in order to obtain accommodations for his dyslexia in school.)

18 Months of intense, specialized tutoring @ $1,080/mo.: $19,440.
(This sounds outrageous, I know. But this is in line with what we pay. Dyslexia tutors receive highly specialized training.)

By the way, the Rawlings aren't just asking for handouts—although with that many years in the mission field on as little as they lived on we should all be happy to pitch in.

Along with ministry duties, and homeschooling Micah in other subjects, Lynette is working to help cover living expenses to keep them in the States for tutoring. Steve is traveling for their mission work.  And Micah will be working some to help, too.

PLEASE join me in supporting this bright young man and this mission family.

Consider a monthly pledge.

THANK YOU so much! The Rawlings and Micah will thank you from the bottom of their hearts!
