Help Micah Battle the Darkside

Hi all! My name is Rachael Wilson and I have created this campaign for my brother, Micah, who was recently diagnosed with Burkitts Lymphoma.
Would you like to know more? Please keep reading!

First, who is Micah Rauch?
Micah is 24 years old, and if you have the honor of knowing him, you know that he is truly one of a kind. But if you don’t, let me tell you a little more about him. One of the first things you will notice about Micah is his larger then life smile and personality, he lights up a room when he walks in. He loves to make people laugh and feel invited, one of those ways is by doing impersonations of some of his favorite characters (Smeagol and Heath Ledger’s “Joker” are some my favorites). He also loves to help and serve those around him. If you ever need something, you can always count on him to stop what he is doing to help you out. Micah is very passionate about life, and about those around him...including his niece and nephew, who absolutely adore him! Simply put, to know Micah is to love Micah.
He is a fighter and a rare gem. And if anyone can beat a rare cancer, it is him!

The events leading up to his Diagnosis:
On the evening of September 18th, Micah -along with our parents, made another trip to the ER.
For weeks Micah had been battling severe abdominal pain. Previous visit’s to the ER and a Gastroenterologist turned up different theories as to what the pain could be, but no one was able to solve the problem. Following a mothers intuition, they went once more to find some answers after a day at work brought Micah home doubled over in severe pain. Finally, the Doctor at this visit sought to find the answers they were seeking and tests were ordered. After a cat-scan was completed the Doctor determined that Micah was experiencing something called “Intussusception“. At 11 am the next morning Micah underwent emergency surgery to remove 12 inches of his colon. Upon opening him up they discovered that his appendix was also swollen and inflamed, so they removed that as well.
The Doctor ordered a biopsy on the appendix to determine the cause, in which they found a tumor.
2 weeks later at his follow up appointment, Micah received the news no one wants to hear… Cancer.
Micah has been diagnosed with a very rare and very aggressive cancer called “Burkitts Lymphoma”.

What is Burkitts Lymphoma?
Burkitts lymphoma is a form of Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. As his oncologist put it, “there are 50-60 types of lymphomas, Burkitts is the worst and most aggressive”. To give perspective on how aggressive this cancer can be, tumors in Burkitts patients can double in size in a mere 24 hours.
But, there is hope!
While it is very aggressive, it is also very curable. His prognosis is good!
However, time is of the essence.
Micah will be undergoing chemotherapy at Cleveland Clinic beginning today, October 31st.
This course of treatment will be 5 days of continuous chemo, every 3 weeks, for 6 rounds.

How you can help:
First and foremost, your prayers! Second, a financial contribution -if you feel led.
Micah will be unable to work for the next 6 months, granted that everything goes according to plan.
On top of his normal monthly expenses (IE. cellphone, car payment, insurance, etc.). He will also be faced with numerous expenses including those connected with the commute back and forth for treatments. He will also be on a special diet and will require special vitamins and supplements to keep his body strong while receiving chemo. Your contributions will also help to relieve the financial burden my parents will be facing as they devote their time and their lives to helping care for Micah as he fights to get through this difficult season in his life. For them, it will help to cover travel expenses, meals, etc.

In whatever way you feel led, your support will make a difference!

Thank you and God Bless!
