Help Michelle and Micah Adopt

Donation protected
Some people were just meant to be parents. They embody warmth, compassion, humor, kindness, joy, and wisdom. And so we appeal to you on behalf of our dearest friends, Michelle and Micah, to support them after their adoption agency went bankrupt, taking their funds and hope for a family. Now they need our help and support in continuing their adoption journey.

Michelle and Micah have always wanted children and have tried to grow their family since their wedding in 2011. After years of trying for a biological child, Michelle and Micah began the journey to parenthood through adoption.

After much research, in the winter of 2015 they hired the Independent Adoption Center (IAC), a nationally recognized adoption agency. After almost two years of waiting, in January of 2017, it seemed that their dream was finally coming true when they matched with J, a young birthmother in Texas.

But two weeks later, Michelle and Micah were notified that their agency was filing for bankruptcy and shutting its doors effective immediately. This left them with no way to get their confidential files or to access the legal and social services for which they had already paid.

Not giving up, Michelle and Micah continued to communicate with J., flying to Texas to meet her and her family. They paid to refresh their homestudy and found a Texas law firm to complete the adoption in Texas. They arranged for J’s health care expenses and communicated regularly with J for the next six months for updates on doctor’s visits, developments and support.

In June of last year, two weeks before the baby’s due date, J told Michelle and Micah that she had decided to keep the baby.  As you can imagine, Michelle and Micah were heartbroken.

They are daunted at the emotional and financial cost of beginning the search for a child once more. Although they have joined other affected families in filing a bankruptcy claim against IAC, the suit will last years with little hope that they will see any part of their money refunded.

Please support them in making their dream a reality. The average cost of a domestic adoption is $20,000 – 45,000. Our goal is to raise $20,000 over the next two months so Michelle and Micah can continue their adoption journey. Together, we can help change the course of their lives and a child’s life who will have the opportunity to have two amazing, loving, fun and wise parents who will give so much to their child.

We cannot express how grateful we are for your support!
