Mic Check Collective

Donation protected
Since the unconscionable murder of George Floyd, people across the world have united over their shared pain and outrage. The time  has come to dismantle systemic racism once and for all.

The Mic Check Fund is inspired by the "Mic Check" protest chant, which is used to amplify the voice of one protester by a thousandfold.  Our fund will do its part in amplifying the voices of black organizers in New York City  with free megaphones and protest chanting resources.

The need for megaphones is urgent at protests in New York City. The activism happening in NYC is part of a grassroots movement, meaning the work that is occurring is not funded by corporations, but rather by the people. Because of this, the movement does not always have basic resources to draw upon, such as sound amplification.

And yet, we have already accomplished some significant goals with very few resources. That being said, every black person leading this movement deserves to have an abundance of tools at their disposal. Megaphones are a small tool that can make a big difference, so the sooner we can get them to organizers, the more of an impact we can have.

100% of funds raised will go toward purchasing crucial supplies including:
~$873.54  ...  46 Croove Megaphones - 800 Yard Range (46 megaphones for the memory of George Floyd, who was only 46 years old when he was murdered)
~$322.32  ...  192 Duracell D Batteries (Four batteries for each megaphone, plus some extra)
~$49.99  ...  Ink Cartridges (To be used to print activism chant sheets and booklets)
~$154.15  ...  Miscellaneous costs (Bags to transport megaphones, GoFundMe transaction fees, office supplies, transportation costs, sales taxes)

Our organization believes in centering the black community, so megaphones will be offered to black individuals and black-led grassroots organizations who are leading the movement. In our work to decide who will be offered these tools, we will make space for the full spectrum of black identities, including Afro-Latinx people, black men/women/nonbinary folx, black queers, black people with disabilities, etc.

Your support in any way will help activists make themselves heard at rallies/vigils, inspire crowds with protest chants, communicate with the police,  direct marches in a way that keeps peaceful protesters safe, and more.

We greatly appreciate any contribution you are able to make. No amount is too small and thank You from the Mic Check Fund team.
