Uganda 2018

Donation protected
On the 12th July 2018, myself and 28 other students from Chellaston Academy will be travelling to Uganda, to take part in a 22 day project. The Uganda aid project has been running since 2006 when Chellaston Academy purchased the John Dicken’s house - a children’s orphanage. Since then, The Mydel McQuilton Academy was purchased in 2010 -  acting as an orphanage and primary school for the children of Kampala, who were previously living in slums. For the last 11 years, a group of students have travelled over to Africa to extend and improve this house to enhance the quality of life of many children. Last year, my brother Elliot was part of the Simba team who built an extension to the buildings. The aim of this year's visit is to enhance and sustain some of the past projects and to take part in aid work throughout the area, which will involve handing out clothes to those living in more deprived areas, visiting a handicapped centre and teaching at our partner school - Main Street Primary School in Kampala.

In order to raise money for this trip, myself and my Dad will be taking part in a sponsored bike ride. We will be cycling the distance of Derby to Liverpool which is approximately 100 miles. Any donations would be massively appreciated, and will all go towards this amazing cause, which I am so excited to be a part of!

Thank you! Mia
