Mia's Battle with Wegeners Disease

Just a week ago today my daughter Mia was in critical condition bleeding internally, without explanation and her chances of survival were slim...

• Humans need at least 150,000 Platelets to live, (300,000 preferred)
– MIA has/had a Platelet Count of 55,000;
• Humans need approximately Five (5) liters of Blood to sustain life
– MIA needed a four (4) liter blood transfusion due to internal hemorrhaging;
• Humans (based on age) should feel (not feel) their heart beat at a rate of about eighty-five (85) Beats Per Minute (BPM)
– MIA has been experiencing rates in excess of one hundred-seventy
• Humans need Oxygen Saturation of greater than ninety percent (<90%)
- MIA has/had been experiencing an average of seventy-two (72%) percent;
• Mia was close to death a week ago today suffering from Systemic Inflammatory Response Syndrome brought on by Wegener’s Granulomatosis;
Although a life threatening condition requiring Chemotherapy to battle, THIS IS NOT CONSIDERED A CANCER AND THEREFORE TREATMENT IS NOT CURRENTLY COVERED BY OUR INSURANCE PLAN.
