What Happened
On Thursday, December 21, 2017, my cousin's family home in Miami, Florida was lost to a house fire. Her daughter Amanda and husband Rey were able to safely escape the flames before they reached the front door, but besides the soggy gifts under the tree and a few charred photos brought out by firefighters, everything else was lost. While they're still coping with being framed as the Christmas tragedy and giving thanks everyone is alive, they're a resilient family and want to get back on their feet and in their home as soon as possible.
The generosity of all who have donated via GoFundMe and in person has been overwhelming and a testament to the giving spirit of our community. We know that with your help we'll soon have Nancy's family back under one roof and well on their way to stability.
How to Help
Your donations, no matter how big or small, will be put toward replacing their immediate needs, like clothing, and securing temporary housing. Eventually, with your help, my family will be able to replace the lost posessions that insurance won't cover and pay the remaining costs for rebuilding their now condemned home.
