Mia's Surgery

Mia has always been a warrior from the day we got her from the shelter, to her second TPLO (torn ACL) surgery yesterday.  She underwent her first TPLO surgery in January 2018 after being injured on a New Year’s hike — starting her year off with a long road to recovery! Although Mia recovered well, 2019 came around with a gnarly infection on a plate placed during her surgery. There she went, back into a second surgery! She handled that surgery and recovery like a true champ!

As luck would have it during this weird, dysfunctional year, Mia had to go under the knife again for her other knee (the left one) — her second TPLO surgery in under three years!  A true champ never gives up though, and Mia’s surgery was a success.  She is now back home recovering while dreaming of her days ahead running wild and playing with her buddy, Moose, my other German Shepherd.

Unfortunately, with three expensive surgeries in under three years, my ability to pay for her medical bills is severely compromised, and my pet insurance has denied my claims because of their pre-existing condition policies.  As a result, I’m left with a $6,500 vet bill I simply cannot pay all on my own.  I welcome any and all donations, and thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to read Mia’s story.  I will keep everyone posted about her recovery and well being.

Thank you,

Gerry and Mia
