Abby's Humanitarian Trip to India

About a year ago I had an “Ah-ha” moment with God. I was faced with the decision of following what God was leading me to do or to continue heading down my own path. I had an opportunity to do what I had dreamt of my whole life. But I hadn’t yet stopped to consider what God’s dream for my life was. After much grappling, I surrendered my dream to Him and said I would go where he led me. I never dreamt that this opportunity would be the next step He had for my future. I have always been a homebody with no desire to leave the country, let alone my home state. But little by little God has changed my heart. I had heard a lot about YWAM and had friends who had participated at other times, but I didn’t think it was for me. As my heart started to warm up to the thought of traveling, God sent the right people across my path at just the right time. My heart took a complete 180 degree turn. Instead of becoming anxious about the thought of leaving I became genuinely excited. I am now looking forward to learning more about why I believe what I believe and learning more about God in the process. This opportunity will also broaden my knowledge of how other cultures live. I will be honest, I am still not sure exactly what God has planned for me, but I do know that this trip is a part of it. After much prayer and consideration, I will be attending a Discipleship Training School (DTS) in Perth, Australia for three months followed by three months of outreach in India where I will be working with the poor and needy.
