I lived in Kyiv, Ukraine for over 10 years until the day that Russia attacked and I fled my home there along with my Ukrainian husband and our 3 young children. I was led to Ukraine through a beautiful Ukrainian named Anya who studied in America, yet returned to her country to support her people. That beautiful Ukrainian became my best friend, and has been my best friend now for over 20 years! She was also forced to flee her beloved Ukraine with her 2 young children because of the war.

<div>Last year we were dismayed to learn that her dear hardworking mother Margarita who continues to live in Ukraine had cancer. She immediately had to have surgery and then had to follow-up with necessary chemotherapy and radiation treatment that has already cost $6000.  Unfortunately, recent tests have shown this has not been enough to get rid of the cancer and Margarita has to continue aggressive treatment that is estimated to cost another $6000.  These expenses are way beyond what Margarita and her husband Sergey could ever hope to earn. Margarita is retired and is only given a pension of about $60 month and was already dealing with various health problems prior to this. Her husband Sergey, though he is of retirement age, continues to work double shifts as a machinist to support his family as much as he can though, unfortunately, in Ukraine his profession is paid very little. Thus, he needed to borrow money from the bank to help pay for the treatment Margarita has already received. On top of that, Margarita's treatment has hit various roadblocks as she has faced multiple serious complications as well as other serious health issues and lots of pain, including a complication with a large kidney stone within the past few months that required two major surgeries to remove.

<div>This is why I'm asking you if you would consider a gift for Margarita to help her to fight for her life and live. To face such a diagnosis and treatment during peaceful times is extremely difficult, but can you imagine having to endure this during a war time when your daughter and granddaughters are so far away and your son constantly faces the risk of being drafted into the military? Their situation is too impossible for words. Thankfully, Margarita is very strong emotionally and spiritually, which is a huge reason that she has endured through all this, however, would you please help to carry her burden by praying for her and contribuing financially towards her medical expenses?
