Dennis Ursetti our cousin, brother and friend is in the fight of his life. The guy who has ALWAYS been there for anyone who needed him, now needs us. Dennis was diagnosed with ALS - also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. ALS is a motor neuron disease causing difficulty in walking, speaking, swallowing and breathing. Currently, there is no cure for ALS. But if Denny has his way, that will change!
Despite his diagnosis, he is determined to fight this latest setback to the bitter end. With his determination and big smile, he is willing to engage in clinical trials that could advance research for ALS and finally find a cure. But trials are not covered by insurance. Stair lifts and mobility vans are also not covered by insurance.
Medicines are outrageously expensive. It is difficult if not downright impossible to keep up with the mounting medical bills when the disease has robbed you of your ability to work.
Those of us that know Denny well knows he never shyed away from hard work. When another disease took several of his fingers, he adapted and found a way to keep working to provide a living for the family he loves and cherishes. Quite a feat for someone who uses his hands for a living.
For those who don't know Dennis, he is proud family man. Married to Teresa for 25+ years, they have two children in College -- Maria at the Cleveland Institute of Art and Anthony at The Ohio State University.
Dennis is a self-taught handyman who talents knows no bounds. He could repair or remodel any project you threw at him and if it wasn't in his wheelhouse, he would find out how to do it. If he got a call that someone needed his services, he would be there with a smile and his tools. But beware...Denny enjoys good conversation and a cup of joe, so he might linger long after the job is complete.
Please, find it in your heart to make a donation - any donation - would be appreciated and helpful. He should not have to fight this battle alone. Let's let him know we are with him all the way along this journey. Please keep him and his beautiful family - and all those fighting this disease top of mind. They need our love and support.
