As you may or may not know, I work for Macro Forster Middle School, in the Special Education Department.
The students of the Special Education Department at Marco Forster Middle School run a recycling program.
Every Friday, with supervision, the students walk the entire campus and collect the recyclables for the week. The group is called the "Green Team". Bins have been placed throughout the campus. These, and every bin in every classroom on campus, are collected and sorted by these amazing students.
The funds go towards the Special Education Department. As we all know, funds are extremely tight in education. And this department depends heavily on the proceeds of the recycling program.
The current bin in the parking lot was almost full. That accounts for 12 months of collecting. Which brings in between $600-$700 for the program. This morning it was found that the chain was recently cut, and the recycling container has been completely emptied.
Someone stole all the recycling from the container, parked in the Marco Forster Middle School parking lot.
These students take a tremendous amount of pride in reducing, re-using and recycling. On a daily basis environmental issues are addressed with the students. And often times they will remind the students and staff, that water bottles go in the recycling trash bin! The entire school supports them. And often, as the students walk the campus, they'll hear a "Way to go Green Team!"
Today I am humbly asking you if you can support me in raising $650 for the Green Team to make up for 12 months of these students hard work.
