Saving Max

Donation protected

Saving Max is for a sweetheart of a dog that was injured and the owner did not get him medical care. Max came into our lives about 7 months before. At first we did not know who he belonged to. He lived at our house for two weeks. Then it was found out that he belonged to some neighbors. About a week later he started staying at our house again. This time contacting the neighbors asking them to keep him at their house. That didn't work he kept coming over. I noticed he was loosing weight. We started buying food to keep him fed. Then July 10th I come home to busted water lines. You could tell that a fight of some kind occurred. We did not see Max that day. When I did not see him on Tuesday I thought maybe he was involved in the water line issue and he got scared of it was staying away. When we had not seen him at all by Thursday, I knew something was wrong, because he always came over to eat and drink and get loved on. I always would love on him letting him know someone cared. I prayed to God Friday morning asking if Max is injured please bring him to me so I can get him medical attention. I go out to go to work and he was standing there. He was so skinny. At first I thought he needed to eat, so I parked the truck and jumped out to go get him some food when I realized he was seriously injured. I picked him up and he had lost so much weight and loaded him in the truck. Went to the neighbors and told them and showed them and they said ok they would tell the guy that owns him he needs medical attention. I told them he needed immediate attention. I took Max to the vet. He was so mellow and you could tell he was in a lot of pain and wanted help. I later found out that the supposed owner knew he was hurt but did not think it was that bad. Max has a severe blood infection, with massive muscle damage. The onset of gangrene and may lose his left ear. He is having surgery on Saturday morning to try and save some muscle in his 2 left legs, and to try and save his ear. He is also having surgery to drain fluid off his neck. It is going to be a long and expensive road to recovery. Owners are not taking financial responsibility and we are trying to get Max the medical attention he deserves. Any help is appreciated.
