Mexico Beach Survival Starter Kit

We all know Hurricane Michael has devastated much of the Pan Handle, including my good friends beautiful little community of Mexico Beach.  I sit here feeling helpless, with a distant memory of Sandy and a desire to help that was so overwhelming but sometimes there is little you can do but pray and well, donate!  I did it then for strangers and I hope to see it done now. 

For starters I'm probably going to be in a touch of trouble for even starting this page as Kwyn and Donny are the givers and the doers, and honestly if I can figure out how hide it from them (without unfriending them ;-p) and then just present whatever is raised to help them re-coup, re-build and re-start it would delight me.  

K&D started a new life down there in MB one to be closer to her parents and two because they love the community and visiting just wasn't enough anymore!  

They are two of the youngest people that probably live there and have made quite the circle of friends who I'm certain consider them family in more ways then you can imagine. You see, this is primarily a retirement community and K&D have become the go to people for those little and big things that some just can't do anymore.  As well as being completely immersed in the daily life, like making new book club friends, fishing buddies, bourbon/beer drinking pals (Kentucky born and raised, its a must!) and pool hopping antics from one to another ... I could go on and on about this little slice of paradise as I was fortunate to visit just a few short months ago and immediately knew that my friend was "home". The level of damage to their immediate home is unknown.  What they do know is that the whole community will need re-building and a lending hand of some sort or another.  Im already envisioning what funds that do get raised will go to helping theirs friends and neighbors more so than themselves! 

I found out today from Kwyn that most of Mexico Beach is in the X flood zone, that means its not supposed to flood just in case you were not aware.  What it also means like so many others who are affected by these storms that hit unpredictable areas most of the people do not have flood insurance.  This is paralyzing to many as not only have they lost possibly everything but will not have the means to replace.   I'm sure many of you have already donated to the Red Cross, which is amazing, but if you have the means and desire I can swear down to my toes that anything and everything raised will go to the best of means needed at the time.
