He creado esta recaudación de fondos para ayudar a pagar los costos legales asociados con el activismo de Antonio para proteger el acceso a las playas públicas en la región de Playa del Carmen de la Riviera Maya, México.

<div>En diciembre de 2023, asumió un papel de liderazgo en su comunidad y denunció a las autoridades municipales las actividades ilegales de un gran hotel resort de propiedad extranjera (The Fives Beach Front Hotel de España). Organizó una protesta comunitaria legal y se pronunció en las redes sociales contra los intentos ilegales de privatización y restricción del acceso a playas y océanos. Para intimidarlo y detenerlo, Antonio fue objeto de denuncias penales completamente infundadas en su contra por parte del hotel.

<div>En México, no es raro que funcionarios gubernamentales corruptos y grandes empresas utilicen estas tácticas de miedo para impedir que la gente común proteste o defienda sus derechos.

<div>Desafortunadamente, los procedimientos legales para defenderse son muy largos y costosos, incluso cuando son completamente inocentes. Ser atacado injustamente ha causado un estrés físico y mental significativo, pérdida de tiempo, trabajo y todos los recursos financieros del Sr. Saldívar.

<div>Hello! My friend Mr. Antonio Saldivar is a person committed to human rights, community and environmental activism in Mexico. I have created this fundraiser to help pay for legal costs associated with Antonio’s activism to protect public beach access in the Playa del Carmen region of the Mayan Riviera, Mexico.

<div>In December 2023, he took on a leadership role in his community and reported illegal activities by a large, foreign owned resort hotel (The Fives Beach Front Hotel from Spain) to municipal authorities. He organized a legal, community protest and spoke out on social media against the illegal attempts of privatization and restriction of beach and ocean access.  In order to intimidate and stop him, Antonio was targeted with completely unfounded criminal complaints against him by the hotel.

<div>In Mexico, it is not uncommon for corrupt government officials and big businesses to use these fear tactics to stop the common people from ever protesting or speaking up for their rights.

<div>Unfortunately, legal proceedings to defend oneself are very time consuming and costly, even when completely innocent. Being unfairly targeted has caused significant physical and mental stress, loss of time, work and all of the financial resources of Mr. Saldivar.

<div>He needs support from his friends and acquaintances around the world, expats, tourists and citizens of the Playa del Carmen region.
</div>
