WHO ARE WE?

We are mindful leaders redefining the meaning of a yoga studio.  Birgitte is a senior teacher trainer with over 27 years experience, and CJ is a teacher and corporate strategist with experience launching and scaling start-up ventures.

We believe that a dedicated yoga practice creates a profound sense of metta, another word for compassion.

We are creating a community center where like-minded souls can practice, meditate, and find ease.

We are a financially sustainable not-for-profit.  We focus on the quality of instruction and depth of our practice, rather than class size and social media marketing.

USE OF FUNDS: FOUNDATION ENDOWMENT

This fund will enable Metta Movement to secure and remodel a permanent brick and mortar space in Santa Monica in Q1 of 2021.

Currently, our studio is located in a temporary space, through the generosity of Lina Lee from the CIM Group.  Her organization has agreed to "incubate" this start-up in honor of our not-for-profit mission.  We can only occupy this space for a year, and will need to find a permanent location. 

As a not-for-profit, Metta Movement will engage in frequent fundraising activities throughout the year.  This initial effort is focused on establishing an endowment to facilitate future operations.  $130K represents one year of operating costs, including occupancy, teacher compensation, insurance, administration, and other fees.

These donations are separate from the cost of each class per student.  75% of revenue from classes will go to cover operating cost, while 25% will be retained in the movement's endowment.

The foundation operates with 100% transparency and our financial records and cash flow statements are available upon request.
