Merrys Cancer Treatment

On October 16th my little sister Merry was diagnosed with stage II Breast Cancer, meaning that the cancer is slightly more advanced. At this stage, the cancer cells have spread beyond the original location and into the surrounding tissue. However, stage II means cancer has not spread to a distant part of the body.
My sister like most people with busy lives took out the minimum Insurance through her employer and failed to read the small print (There is quite a bit of that). Her insurance would only cover the initial doctors visit. Her insurance, however, would not cover:
- Additional doctors visits
- Additional tests
- Surgeries
- Treatments
- Medications
And anything and everything in between.
My sisters Oncologist Dr. Megan O'Brien of TX Oncology and TX breast Specialist has been very helpful in trying to get an initial breakdown of costs associated with this terrible disease. This link has an estimated cost which we find is very close to what her oncologist has provided Breast Cancer treatment and Cost 

It is imperative that my sister receives treatment now. We are of course applying for other forms of help but there are waiting lists and my sister can't wait.


A bit of background on my Stoic little sister.
The day of Merry's birth was what can only be described as a Tragedy turned Miracle...
My Sister just this tiny 5-pound baby was born with an air pocket in her tummy that displaced her lungs making immediate emergency surgery necessary. For the first year of my sister's life, my mother had no idea if she would live or not, and my sweet little sister had a scar that reached from her pelvis to just below her breasts.
Unfortunately, this wasn't to be last of great tragedies in my sister's life. For reasons, no doctor has yet been able to explain my sister cannot carry a baby to term and has suffered 6 tragic and heartbreaking miscarriages over the years until she could no longer stand the emotional toll of never holding her own child in her arms and quit trying to have a baby.
This didn't stop my sister from sharing the overwhelming amount of love in her heart as she has been a 2nd mother to my children helping me to raise them and raised two boys as her own through marriage plus being an anchor we could all depend and count on.
My little sister is a brave and gracious woman who deserves a break somewhere in her life.
There is so much more I could add to this but as I said it is imperative that she receive treatment now and waiting while I pull out every memory and detail is not in the cards.
