Colleen's German Exchange Adventure

Hi, my name is Colleen. I am a high school student who is trying to raise the money to travel to Giessen, Germany for an exchange program. This journey began several years ago when I was first introduced to the German language in middle school. I learned that, not only did I like learning Deutsch, but if I worked hard, I might have the opportunity to travel to Germany. I knew then that I wanted to be a part of this excellent program.

The exchange program allows students to live with a German host family and to learn about the history and culture of Germany. Our high school has one of the oldest exchange programs in the country, and I was thrilled when I learned that I had survived the application process and had been accepted.

Now comes the logistical part of the journey. From my home town to Giessen is 4, 274 miles. We have figured that my trip will cost me about $0.75/mile. That doesn't sound so bad, but it does add up.

Since I have a birthday coming up, I thought I would create a "go fund me" account and invite all of my wonderful friends and family to help me travel across the Atlantic.

This will be an amazing opportunity that I know will help grow my world view and will help grow who I am as a person. If you can help me, I would be extremely grateful.
