Merlyn McCAllister's Family Support

On Sunday, March 14, 2021, our family lost a truly great man to an unimaginable and senseless act of violence. Merlyn McCallister was a kind, caring, and humble man who was greatly valued by those who knew and loved him. He was a loyal, loving, and dependable husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. Anyone who knew Merlyn knew him as a man who cared deeply about his family and community, and worked hard every day to support both.  

We are all shocked and saddened by his unexpected passing and appreciate the outpouring of support from family, friends, loved ones, and community members. The stories of how he has helped so many others just keep pouring in, and we thank you for the opportunity to hear words of encouragement and joy to balance the overwhelming grief we are all feeling. We’ve set up this Go Fund Me page to help his wife Rosie and three children Mara, Merlin, and Matthew navigate this heartbreaking situation as best as they can.

If you are able to support this fund, it will help in 3 ways:

1.  Raising money so that Merlyn’s wife and children can put forward a reward, in the hope that information will be shared with the Chicago Police Department, leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for Merlyn’s murder;
2.  Establishing an education fund for his 10-year-old son, Matthew; and
3.  Helping his family cover expenses associated with this tragedy.
