MERLE'S BRAIN STEM TREATMENTS & REHAB

Dear Family and Friends, Old and New,

We are the family of Merle Lamount, and this fundraiser is organised by her Only Son Davion. As some of you know, Merle has been fighting for her life since July 2023 in Florida, where she went into the hospital for a possible stroke. Unfortunately, we learned that after the medical professionals treated Merle for a blood clot in the left artery with a routine procedure (Thrombectomy), she has been in a coma and intensive care, needing 24/7 care and attention.

Right now, we are coordinating treatment across three medical teams—one in the UK, one in Germany, and one in China. The costs of travel and coordination between these countries will add up quickly. While we continue to pursue conventional treatment options, recovery from a brain stem stroke often involves rehabilitation. This includes physical therapy to improve or regain the ability to use her limbs; these approaches are costly and limited, as we have come to find out. We have therefore also begun exploring immunotherapy experimental treatments that are not covered by statutory health insurance. Conservative estimates suggest that the costs of these treatments alone could exceed £100,000.

We are thus raising funds to help coordinate Merle's care, cover housing and transportation, medication costs during treatments, and incorporate immunotherapy into her range of options.
