Skye's Medical Fund

I'd first just like to thank everyone and anyone who has clicked on this crowd-funding page. I appreciate you being here regardless of if you choose to donate or not.

About a year ago I made the decision to bring Skye into my life. I didn't feel so lonely anymore with her around, and she soon became more than just company. Skye became my furbaby, my best friend, a part of me that I don't think I'll ever be able to replace. Unfortunately she grew ill early on in her life with no known cause. The doctors told me she wouldn't even make it to see her first birthday. After blowing through the majority of my savings she stabilized and was sent back home with me. Although there was a hole in my pocket, I really didn't care because I had my baby with me again. It wasn't until later that I found out this wouldn't be the end of her medical journey.

After dropping her off for what I assumed would be a simple spaying procedure I received a phone call that made my stomach turn. They couldn't perform the procedure because of her dangerously elevated liver enzymes.

The last few months have been a combination of x-rays (to locate any obstruction in her organs) all the way to ultrasounds, MRIs, and other forms of testing. All of this has been in hopes of finding a reason for her internal conditions. In the process we’ve found additional underlying issues that we’ve had to treat along the way like her Distichiasis on all 4 eyelids (which requires several surgical procedures) and early signs of luxating patella.

WHERE I AM NOW:

Today (2/19/15) we finally got an answer for the elevated enzymes. Unfortunately she does have shunting in her liver and will require an invasive surgery. After having paid for the procedures and testing that got us to this point - totaling nearly $10,000 -  the most devastating part of this journey has been finally discovering the cause of her problems but not being able to afford treating them. The emotional toll this has taken on our lives has been devastating and financially draining. So today I ask of anyone willing to help me finally get Skye out of the hospital. Any and all donations will be helpful.
