Meredith Hogan's Cancer Survival

Donation protected
Meredith (Mrs. Hogan) is a fun-loving, awesome person who was dealt the crappy hand of stage I ovarian cancer. After struggling to figure out the cause of her fertility issues, she was originally diagnosed with ovarian cysts. Treatments for the cysts were unsuccessful and eventually the doctors recommended surgery. When they went in for the surgery, instead of just finding cysts, the surgeons found stage I ovarian cancer and had to perform a hysterectomy on the spot.

Meredith woke up from surgery and was told that there were grapefruit-sized cancer growths on her ovaries and they had to remove her ovaries. After the surgery, she had to endure 6 months of  chemo therapy. Chemo treatments were weekly and inflicted days of nausea. She would barely recover her appetite when it would be time to go in for the next week's treatment.

Surviving cancer comes with its own burdens. Besides chemo, there is regular poking and prodding, scans, biopsies, random fevers, and ER visits. There are the things no one tells you about like lymphedema. And LOTS of bills. Besides the expected medical bills for the surgery and the chemo, there are things insurance doesn't cover like compression stockings or wigs. Cancer sucks.

Before cancer, Meredith was a world-traveling Purdue alumna aerospace engineer. After 5 years of rocking aerospace engineering she decided she loved the volunteer work she did with her robotics students more than her day job and quit engineering to become a full-time teacher. She loves engaging her students, teaching real-world applications for mathematical concepts, and coaching tennis after school. She is devoted to the education, growth, and well-being of the students she teaches and mentors. She always is a giver and goes above and beyond for her family and friends.

Please help this amazing person out from under her burden of medical expenses. No one deserves what she has had to endure.
