Mercy Relief Fund

Mercy, who is 14 years old, was treated in UVA emergency room and by the Eye Clinic but, I am told, the hospital has declined to admit her. Being an immigrant who is temporarily here without her mother (US Embassy declined the Mother’s VISA request), she does not qualify for financial assistance. Yvonne and I have monthly supported her family since about 2011. Her father is deceased.
I am told the doctors at the Eye Clinic will operate on her right eye to remove the fast growing tumor behind her eye if the hospital gives permission to admit her. UVA hospital has refused because of payment, which I understand. I’m trying to raise the funds now, but Mercy’s health concerns me greatly. She has severe headaches and other symptoms from the tumor. She needs an operation as soon as possible. I am told that Mercy’s test results show no cancer but the tumor, if not removed, may cause her to lose that eye and will cause other health problems. I believe time is of the essence.
I understand her operation/care may cost up to $250,000.00 (by a UVA Eye Surgeon). I am working on raising that and believe I can over time. I don’t think Mercy has that time without severe health damage from that tumor. I have been told that it must be removed asap. In addition to this, an additional $50,000 would be needed after the surgery for follow up appointments and medications.
And, my heart is really heavy for Mercy right now.
