On July 3rd I was diagnosed with tongue cancer, and was completely caught off guard. After losing my mother in May of last year to cancer and still working to get our lives back together financially, this hit at a hard time. After multiple tests, surgery to remove 45% of my tongue and reconstruct it, and over a week spent in the hospital, my medical bills are beyond what I could've ever imagined. At this point I'm not able to work, I'm not eligible for unemployment and since I never expected anything like this to happen, I don't have short term disability. I have never been and am still not the type of person to ask anyone for help, but at this point I have no other choice. I still have a long road ahead to recovery. I have to undergo radiation, chemo and physical therapy. In addition to this, my family will be holding a benefit to help raise money to pay for my medical bills, but any penny that can be contributed would be beyond appreciated!
