Mental Geek is a mental health community, for geeks from all walks of life to share their stories, connect with others, and find help when they need it. I need your help to move forward in 2019!
I launched Mental Geek 2 months ago, and since that time the community submitted stories have been receiving a lot of attention, and I have been receiving emails and messages from people thanking me for setting this up, and happy to find a resource that is encouraging for them in their situations.I need to raise some money to help Mental Geek move forward with some projects, including:
- Recording and launching the podcast!
I need some decent mics and an input for my computer, so the quality can be solid and easy for people to listen to. I have the format for the show set, and some show ideas in place, so the equipment is the final piece of the puzzle.
- Info booths at festivals/conventions!
My goal is to have information booths at various events, where I will have information about us, and have an in depth list of mental health resources based on area of the event. I will also sell some Mental Geek branded merch, as well as some books and other products that people in the community have created. These booths do cost money, so a portion of the funds raised would help recover the cost of these events, as well as help me get into more of them.
- Adding more content and printed materials!
I am working on getting a booklet printed out, which will include a short story about mental geek, as well as a few approved community stories, and the list of resources and what we do. I will start out with just a brochure, but as more funding comes in, I will expand it to give people some more material to help them out. I will also be able to pay a professional to help me write these things out and work on the design/layout. These are the basic goals and needs for Mental Geek in 2019.
This is my passion, and as someone who struggled with major depression and anxiety in silence for most of my life, it is my goal to help others feel comfortable with opening up about their struggles, and where we can be a voice for improving mental health services for the public.
If this sounds like something that you would benefit from, or know someone who would, your support would be greatly appreciated! I will post updates on here and on our social media, so you know just exactly how your financial support is being utilized.
