<div>
 <strong>MORE THAN A FINISH LINE</strong>
</div>
<div>
 Two men. One Ironman. A challenge that became something much bigger.
</div>
<div>
 Every day, someone wakes up carrying a weight nobody else can see.
</div>
<div>
 They go to work. They answer the phone. They laugh with friends. They take their children to school. They say, “I'm fine.”
</div>
<div>
 But inside, they may be fighting just to make it through another day.
</div>
<div>
 For some, the walls feel as though they are closing in. For others, trauma, grief, illness, financial pressure, loneliness or circumstances they never expected have slowly taken away the person they once recognised in the mirror.
</div>
<div>
 And sometimes the people closest to them have no idea how desperate that battle has become.
</div>
<div>
 Most of us know someone who has struggled with their mental health.
</div>
<div>
 Some of us have watched someone we love change before our eyes and felt completely powerless to help.
</div>
<div>
 Some have received the phone call nobody should ever receive.
</div>
<div>
 Some have lost a friend, colleague, brother, sister, parent or child to suicide and been left with questions that may never be answered.
</div>
<div>
 What could I have done? Why didn't I see it? Why didn't they tell me?
</div>
<div>
 And sometimes the person fighting that battle simply didn't know how to say:
</div>
<div>
 “I need help.”
</div>
<div>
 This campaign is for them.
</div>
<div>
 IT STARTED WITH AN IRONMAN
</div>
<div>
 This wasn't how our story was supposed to begin.
</div>
<div>
 On 30 July, I, Martin Marks, shared what seemed like a slightly crazy personal ambition with Mason McGarry:
</div>
<div>
 IRONMAN 70.3 Vilamoura 2027.
</div>
<div>
 A 1.9 km swim. A 90 km bike ride and then a 21.1 km half-marathon.
</div>
<div>
 I thought we would talk about it.
</div>
<div>
 Mason had other ideas. By 1 August, he had signed up and sent me proof of his registration.
</div>
<div>
 At that point, there was nowhere left for me to hide. If Mason was doing it, I was doing it.
</div>
<div>
 By the end of the weekend, we had both committed. And almost immediately afterwards, the reality of what we'd done began to sink in. For the first ten days we were still trying to understand the size of the challenge ahead of us.
</div>
<div>
 Then came our first officially documented training session.
</div>
<div>
 And suddenly it was real, There would be early mornings and After work Long swims, Endless kilometres on the bike and runs when our legs were already exhausted.
</div>
<div>
 Bad training days, Good training days, Doubt, Pain and Sacrifice.
</div>
<div>
 And hundreds upon hundreds of hours of preparation before we would ever stood on that start line in Vilamoura.
</div>
<div>
 But only a few days into training, another thought started bothering us.
</div>
<div>
 This can't just be about us.
</div>
<div>
 If we were going to put ourselves through this, we wanted every kilometre to mean something.
</div>
<div>
 So after one training session, we put a message out through our Agua Choca Facebook community <a href="https://www.instagram.com/aguachocaplumbing/." target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Team Agua Choca Instagram</a>
</div>
<div>
 and Instagram page, @aguachocaplumbing <a href="https://www.instagram.com/aguachocaplumbing?igsi=czgzazE4NWJjaGRo" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer"><a href="https://www.instagram.com/aguachocaplumbing?igsi=czgzazE4NWJjaGRo" target="_blank" class="" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">https://www.instagram.com/aguachocaplumbing?igsi=czgzazE4NWJjaGRo</a></a>
</div>
<div>
 We asked people to help us find an organisation we could stand beside — somewhere we could use this challenge to raise money, but equally importantly, to raise awareness around men's mental health and the struggles so many people carry silently.
</div>
<div>
 That changed everything. The Ironman was no longer simply a personal challenge.
</div>
<div>
 It became a commitment.
</div>
<div>
 And one we could no longer walk away from.
</div>
<div>
 THEN WE MET CARMEN
</div>
<div>
 Our message reached Carmen, from Carmen Cares and the Pink Society.
</div>
<div>
 Within days, conversations had started. Very quickly, we realised there was a shared purpose.
</div>
<div>
 And Team Agua Choca and Carmen Cares Foundation agreed to work together.
</div>
<div>
 Carmen's commitment to helping others isn't something created for a fundraising campaign.
</div>
<div>
 It comes from her own life.
</div>
<div>
 Having faced and overcome cancer, Carmen experienced first-hand how suddenly life can change — and how illness and trauma affect far more than the body.
</div>
<div>
 That experience changed her outlook on life. Is it this one
</div>
<div>
 <a href="https://www.instagram.com/carmencares_foundation?i" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Carmen Cares Foundation</a>
</div>
<div>
 Today, that experience drives her determination to reach people when life becomes overwhelming, and they feel as though the walls are closing in.
</div>
<div>
 And it helped us realise something important about our own campaign.
</div>
<div>
 We began by wanting to raise awareness around men's mental health.
</div>
<div>
 That remains incredibly important to us.
</div>
<div>
 But mental wellness doesn't stop with men.
</div>
<div>
 Trauma doesn't ask your gender.
</div>
<div>
 Cancer doesn't.
</div>
<div>
 Grief doesn't.
</div>
<div>
 Loss doesn't.
</div>
<div>
 Depression doesn't.
</div>
<div>
 A life-changing diagnosis doesn't.
</div>
<div>
 And emotional suffering doesn't always look the way we expect it to look.
</div>
<div>
 So our purpose grew.
</div>
<div>
 THIS IS ABOUT THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE NUMBERS
</div>
<div>
 Through our workplaces, communities and the organisations around us, we encounter men, women and families who have experienced significant trauma, extraordinarily difficult circumstances and life-altering health diagnoses.
</div>
<div>
 And often the immediate crisis is only the beginning.
</div>
<div>
 A serious diagnosis can change someone's entire understanding of their future.
</div>
<div>
 Trauma can follow someone long after the physical danger has passed.
</div>
<div>
 Bereavement can leave a family trying to rebuild a life that suddenly looks completely different.
</div>
<div>
 Long-term illness can affect relationships, employment, finances, confidence and identity.
</div>
<div>
 And the people caring for someone who is struggling can carry an enormous emotional burden themselves.
</div>
<div>
 A husband trying desperately to help his wife.
</div>
<div>
 A wife watching the man she loves withdraw further every day.
</div>
<div>
 A parent terrified about their child.
</div>
<div>
 A child watching a parent fight cancer.
</div>
<div>
 A friend who knows something isn't right but doesn't know what to say.
</div>
<div>
 A colleague hiding everything behind a smile.
</div>
<div>
 These are not statistics.
</div>
<div>
 They are people.
</div>
<div>
 And sometimes having someone to talk to — access to counselling, emotional support, mental-wellness resources or simply somebody willing to listen without judgement — can be an important part of helping a person begin rebuilding confidence, resilience and hope.
</div>
<div>
 WHY AN IRONMAN?
</div>
<div>
 Because there is something symbolic about what lies ahead of us.
</div>
<div>
 There will be moments during our training when our bodies tell us to stop.
</div>
<div>
 There will be mornings when getting out of bed is difficult.
</div>
<div>
 There will be kilometres when the finish feels impossibly far away.
</div>
<div>
 But we have something many people struggling with their mental health desperately need:
</div>
<div>
 We know where our finish line is.
</div>
<div>
 Ours is waiting for us in Vilamoura.
</div>
<div>
 For somebody fighting depression, trauma, grief, illness or overwhelming circumstances, there may be no visible finish line.
</div>
<div>
 They may not know when things will get better.
</div>
<div>
 They may not even believe things can get better.
</div>
<div>
 That's why our 70.3 miles have become about something much greater than a medal.
</div>
<div>
 We swim for the people struggling to stay afloat.
</div>
<div>
 We ride for those facing a road that seems to have no end.
</div>
<div>
 We run for those searching for the strength to take one more step.
</div>
<div>
 And when our bodies tell us we've had enough, we will remember why we started.
</div>
<div>
 TEAM AGUA CHOCA
</div>
<div>
 What began as two mates signing up for an Ironman has become Team Agua Choca.
</div>
<div>
 And our objective now goes far beyond crossing a finish line.
</div>
<div>
 We want to turn:
</div>
<div>
 Endurance into impact.
</div>
<div>
 Personal determination into community support.
</div>
<div>
 Conversation into awareness.
</div>
<div>
 And a finish line into a starting point.
</div>
<div>
 We want men in particular to understand that strength isn't pretending everything is okay.
</div>
<div>
 Sometimes strength is telling somebody:
</div>
<div>
 “I'm struggling.”
</div>
<div>
 Sometimes courage is asking for help.
</div>
<div>
 And sometimes the most important thing another human being can do is listen.
</div>
<div>
 WHERE YOUR DONATION WILL GO
</div>
<div>
 The funds raised through this campaign are intended to support organisations helping people facing mental-health challenges, trauma and difficult life circumstances.
</div>
<div>
 Our confirmed South African beneficiary is Carmen Cares Foundation.
</div>
<div>
 We are also working to identify an appropriate organisation in Portugal whose work aligns with our mental-wellness mission. Once that partnership is formally confirmed, our intention is for charitable proceeds to be shared equally between the two beneficiary organisations.
</div>
<div>
 We will keep our supporters updated as the campaign develops and publish information about funds distributed to our beneficiaries.
</div>
<div>
 Our commitment is transparency.
</div>
<div>
 This challenge may have our names on the entry forms.
</div>
<div>
 But this campaign belongs to everyone who chooses to stand behind it.
</div>
<div>
 WE NEED YOUR HELP
</div>
<div>
 You don't have to swim 1.9 kilometres.
</div>
<div>
 You don't have to cycle 90 kilometres.
</div>
<div>
 And you definitely don't have to run a half-marathon afterwards.
</div>
<div>
 We'll do that part.
</div>
<div>
 We're asking you to do something much simpler.
</div>
<div>
 Stand with us.
</div>
<div>
 Donate what you can.
</div>
<div>
 Share this campaign.
</div>
<div>
 Talk about mental health.
</div>
<div>
 Check on the person who's gone unusually quiet.
</div>
<div>
 Ask your mate twice when he tells you he's fine.
</div>
<div>
 And don't underestimate what one conversation can mean to someone who feels completely alone.
</div>
<div>
 Whether you give €5, €20, €50, €100 or more, you become part of this journey.
</div>
<div>
 If you can't donate, sharing this page costs nothing — and it may put this message in front of the person who needs to see it.
</div>
<div>
 Between now and the start line of IRONMAN 70.3 Vilamoura 2027, we're going to document the journey.
</div>
<div>
 The successes.
</div>
<div>
 The failures.
</div>
<div>
 The early mornings.
</div>
<div>
 The terrible training sessions.
</div>
<div>
 The milestones.
</div>
<div>
 And probably more than a few moments when we question what on earth we signed ourselves up for.
</div>
<div>
 But we'll keep going.
</div>

 Because this isn't just about Martin and Mason anymore.
</div>
<div>
 It's about the people fighting battles nobody can see.
</div>
<div>
 It's about their families.
</div>
<div>
 It's about their friends.
</div>
<div>
 It's about starting conversations that could change lives.
</div>
<div>
 And it's about reminding someone, somewhere, who may be experiencing one of the darkest moments of their life:
</div>
<div>
 You don't have to carry everything alone.

 Help us turn 70.3 miles into something that reaches far beyond the finish line.
