We lost part of our home and sustained damage in our cafe, but all three of our staff - Nasir, Ryan and Sur - lost everything . Ryan also lost his grandmother and Sur’s daughter is in hospital seriously injured - actually we haven’t been able to get any communications from them to find out if she survived. Made’s house in Lombok is damaged also and his mum’s is destroyed.
We’ve also lost all our bookings from August and September, our peak season, with no idea yet when guests will come back to the islands. Ours in not simply a ‘business’ but our home and livelihood, and our staff are like family.
So many of you have offered financial assistance and others have recommended we start this gofundme. I hate asking for money. But if you would like to help, we will use any donations to give to our staff and families to help them survive and take care of their families until work can resume. $200aud can feed an extended family for more than a month...
