<div>Hi, my name is Michelle and my husband is a brain injury survivor! In July 2024 his heart stopped and didn't have oxygen to his brain for <em>31 minutes</em>! We as a family had no idea how much this would affect us. Thankfully <a href="https://headwayblackpool.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Headway Blackpool</a>  was there to guide and support us through this. They are not government funded, so rely on generous donations and support from the public to keep supporting past, current and future survivors of brain injuries.

<div>Did you know that between 30-180 seconds of oxygen deprivation, you may lose consciousness. At the one-minute mark, brain cells begin dying. At three minutes, neurons suffer more extensive damage, and lasting brain damage becomes more likely. At five minutes, death becomes imminent.

<div>It's highly likely that you know someone with a brain injury in the UK. <strong>Approximately one person is admitted to a UK hospital with a brain injury every 90 seconds.</strong> This suggests that a significant portion of the population will either be directly affected by a brain injury or know someone who has experienced one.
