Men Rompers for a Cure DIPG
What started as a fun Facebook post with my husband, has now blossomed into a beautiful opportunity to help Children in the fight for a cure against DIPG.
With the new fashion craze of the man romper, I told my husband I was going to get him one. He, of course, protested....
This friendly feud over getting him into one unraveled online, on a facebook post. After some friends chimed in on wanting to witness this closet fashionista in a romper, I threatened a petition!
After the threat of a petition, my wonderful husband had the idea to use this opportunity to raise money for a cure and awareness for DIPG.
My husband is a Texas State Trooper, and a fellow Trooper's daughter was recently diagnosed and unfortunately succumbed to the demands of this disease. There is currently no cure for this childhood disease.
This hit home for us because we too have a beautiful 3 year old daughter and another on the way.
So we figured we could try and do some good while still playing into the demands of our friends and family of getting this manly man into a romper! Once we reach our minimum goal he will put on a romper and photo evidence will be captured of the event!
My husband has since been in contact with the father of the young girl that has passed and has joined in on this opportunity!
The Central Texas Chapter of The Cure Starts Now was created in memory of Jade Bridier. She was only 4 years old when our heavenly father called her home. With your help we want to help fight for more time and a cure for little princes and princesses like her with DIPG.
Brain tumors remain the most common cause of cancer-related death in children, and DIPG is the leading cause of death from pediatric brain tumors. A child diagnosed with DIPG today faces the same prognosis as a child diagnosed 40 years ago. There is still no effective treatment and no chance of survival. Only 10% of children with DIPG survive for 2 years following their diagnosis, and less than 1% survive for 5 years. The median survival time is 9 months from diagnosis.
