Memories for the Boys

The shooting star...
Amanda is a friend to many and one I met in grade 4, 25 years ago.  Her spirit for life and strength is contagious and her fun outgoing personality is something that people love and feed off of. Amanda's bright light is one you always look forward to seeing!

Aside from Amandas close friends she has two beautiful boys, Karter who is 8 and Kristan who is 2 and a very loving family support system.

And then the news...
March 2016, close to Amanda’s 33rd birthday, she got the worst news any young mother could hear. She was diagnosed with breast cancer; originally stage 2 which was upgraded to stage 4 after therapy when they found another spot on her neck bone. In November 2016, she started the strongest treatments out there in hopes that with her youth she could knock this disease out! Throughout this torture her spirit did not waiver and her strength humbled us all.

Around the time of my 34th birthday in Feb of 2017 we had gotten the news that Amanda was cancer free!!  And a celebration was definitely in order...

Throughout this unforgettable year she was an inspiration; never dwelling on her diagnosis but instead still helping others and being the selfless friend, she’s always been. She was so strong and kept it together for everyone including herself and the boys.

This December we got together again to enjoy each other and talk about the year to come and how happy that Amanda was still in remission!  The only thing she couldn’t get past was the extreme back pain she was getting for the past couple months. This back pain took a toll on her; fearing it might be cancer again. We reassured her it wasn’t and continued to be positive…until today.

Today (Jan 20th, 2018) was the day that made the first time I heard about Amanda’s prognosis two years ago seem insignificant. Today is when I found out not only was the cancer back but that it had metastasized. New drugs are available but only have a 60% chance of being effective.

This devestating news has ripped a hole in the family and friends that surround her the most and to make this year as comfortable as possible we are trying to raise some money. The ultimate goal is to get Amanda's parents, her two kids and her to Disney World to enjoy an ultimate vacation that they are all well deserving of. These memories are something we feel the boys need with their mom and the break and relaxation is something Amanda and her parents deserve. The airfare, accomodations and overall disney vacation package for a week will be close to $25,000 US running a little over $30,000 CDN.  We hope to get her there for her birthday in March or close to it.

If the funds go above this it will be given to the family for other costs they will incure over this year. Thank you so much in advance ,

Rebecca, Allison and Susan
