Funeral & Service for Lourdes Ortiz

On Thursday October 19, 2017 our family's matriarch passed away. She passed with her husband of 50+ years by her side. Lourdes Ortiz was a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and great-grandmother. She was also so much more.

Her passing was a shock to us, and the suddeness of her passing has us trying to put together the money to give her the memorial she wanted. Her wants were simple; family and the love of her life by her side. We think it only best to keep her funeral and memorial the same. It will be a simple occassion, nothing over the top. Just a simple memorial and burial.
This is where you come in. Even with the pooled resources of the family we will be coming up short on funds to provide this for her. It is a sad fact that funerals and memorials, unless planned for, can be a huge financial burden on the survivors. We ask that you donate what you can for a woman who grew up in the fields of Central California picking strawberries and cotton, and eventually made it to Southern California. She headed a family of 6 children, 15+ grand children and even a few great-grandchildren. Her legacy lives through us. Please help us memorialize her.
The funds will be used to pay for any costs that come up during the funeral and memorial. My grandparents lived off social security; saving was difficult to do when your fixed income is low. Any funds over the goal will be used to help my Grandfather Herculano Ortiz as he transitions to a life without his love.

We will need funds as soon as possible. The timeline for passings is short and condensed. There isn't much time to spare and the sooner we can do this the less money it will cost.
The person handling this fundraiser is myself. Joseph Garza, grandson of Herc and Lourdes, son of Francine, their oldest daughter. I've taken on this role to help relieve some of the pressures my aunts and uncles, and other family members as they mourn the loss of the mother and family member.

If you prefer to donate via cash or check please contact me directly. In an effort to expedite this all money collected will go through me, but will then be handed off to the appropriate entities (Funeral home, headstone maker, etc...). Finally an extra funds will be dispersed in a way to best help my grandpa move on with the least amount of stress.
