Memorializing Lance Batsford aka "The Bird"

On December 2nd, 2019, my dad, Lance Batsford lost his battle to pancreatic cancer.  My dad was my rock, my support but most of all he was my best friend.  As the older brother and male role model, he was my uncle Charlie’s best friend as well. Together, my uncle and I want to memorialize my dad's memory by donating to a cause that he loved and held dear... Hockey and Santa Barbara.  Hockey meant the world to him as he was on skates soon after learning to walk and began playing the sport in Canada when he was no more than five years old.  Soon after, he and his family moved to Santa Barbara - a place he would call home for the next 15 years and longer and form the relationships that are going strong to this day. 

Our goal is to raise $10,000 for ICE IN PARADISE - a Santa Barbara ice rink that was built in 2016 as a non-profit, serving the Santa Barbara community.  When we hit this target, he will take his place on the major donor wall and his name will be memorialized next to the names of many of his friends and family.

As his only child, I will be managing the donations - working closely with Ice in Paradise, and my uncle to reach our goal by March 6, 2020, in honor of what would be his 57th birthday. 100% of all donated funds will go to Ice in paradise to place the memorial for my father so his legacy can continue on in the rink for the game that gave him life.
