Memorial Scholarship re: Luce

I am the mother of a unique, loving young Deaf woman who touched many lives and recently passed away at the age of 32 due to lung and chest issues. I am a dual Canadian and American citizen and a secondary school teacher currently on a medical leave as I’m being treated for cancer. I am trying to raise $5000 in US dollars ($6750 in Canadian funds) so that my daughter’s alma mater, Gallaudet University, can honour her memory as an inspiration to other like-minded individuals.
Victoria (Luce) LeBlanc, who passed away October 15th at the age of 32, was much loved by those who knew her far and wide. She graduated from Gallaudet University in 2014 with a double major in English and Theatre. In recognition of her passion for both disciplines, myself and Victoria's former Gallaudet teachers would like to establish a memorial scholarship at Gallaudet in Victoria’s name. The scholarship will be awarded to students of English and/or Theatre.
In order to establish a memorial scholarship at Gallaudet, a $5,000 donation in US funds by a founding donor is required. The founding donor then commits to raising an additional $20,000 in US funds over five years. This GoFundMe campaign will raise $5,000 in US funds for the initial donation by Victoria's mother, myself, Claire LeBlanc. With your help, we will be able to establish the endowment for the Victoria LeBlanc Memorial Scholarship Fund. When this first phase of fundraising is completed, we will begin the second phase to raise the additional $20,000 in US funds. In this phase, donations can be made directly to Gallaudet for the scholarship. To be clear, in Phase 1, you are making a donation directly to Claire LeBlanc for the purpose of raising the initial $5,000 in US funds needed to establish a memorial scholarship at Gallaudet. In Phase 2, you will be able to donate directly Gallaudet for the memorial schoarlship fund at Gallaudet. Donations in the second phase will be tax deductible, as Gallaudet is a 501c3 non-profit organization.
We are confident in the ultimate success of these goals. In the unlikely event that we are not able to raise the full $25,000 in US funds over five years, Gallaudet will consult with me to determine how best to use the funds to honour Victoria's memory. Please consider donating to this worthy cause so that Luce can continue to inspire and do good.
