Memorial Fund Raiser for Helen (Bootsie) Davis

Donation protected
This is a memorial fund to raise money to help cover the funeral expenses for Helen (Bootsie) Davis.

Helen also known and loved by her family and friends as Bootsie was born prematurely weighing 3 lbs. and 6 oz. on September 7th, 1978 in Newport News, VA. During her short life on this earth, Bootsie battled Graves ’ disease, High Blood Pressure, Vertigo & Seizures. Bootsie passed away on April 29, 2020 at age 41 due to complications from the global epidemic Corona Virus, Covid19.
Bootsie did not have insurance and this is a fund raiser to help cover her funeral expenses. A donation of any amount would be greatly appreciated.
Here are brief glimpses into the story of Bootsie’s life as seen in the eyes of her mother, children, aunt, and friend.

Her Mother Karen: Premature at birth, Bootsie was so small and so delicate and so fragile that I was afraid for her life. Slowly but surely she gained weight and was able to come home. This was one of the happiest days of my life. And so would her life be; Days of illness and battles of recovery but even greater days of Happiness and sharing that happiness with those she loved.
As a child, Bootsie was raised by her grandmother and her mother in downtown Newport News on Ridley Circle. She was naturally kind hearted and very sweet and remained so during her entire life. Bootsie was also very giving of herself. If I ever needed anything and she had it, she would give it to me. When Bootsie went out shopping, she would always check to see if anyone needed something. Bootsie was a genuinely good person. In sickness and in health, she always managed to keep smiling.
Bootsie worked hard and held a variety of jobs at area hotels and fast food restaurants. When she got a chance,  Bootsie liked to go out with her friends for fun and relaxation.

Bootsie had 5 children that she loved dearly. Sincere 13, Izreal 17, MoNae 19, Regina 20,  Wayna  22 and 5 grandchildren. Bootsie did everything for her kids and she truly enjoyed sitting around the house with her kids and her best friend Liz. She loved to cook and clean. Her house was immaculate.

Sincere : I had a hard working mother who took care of me as mommy and dad and I love her so much.

Monae: I’m gonna miss her collard greens. I loved all her cooking.

Regina: I have only been in my mother’s life the last 3 months. I spent my life searching for and finally found my mother. My bonding moments with my mother were in the mornings. I would cook grilled cheese sandwiches then fix her hair and muse around the edges. Now I don’t have to search anymore.

Wanya: I lost a part of my heart. A mom that I loved so much in this lifetime. I will never forget the sad moments we had and the good moments we had. No matter what, she always tried her best to do for us. I am so hurt for the pain I caused her that I never got to apologize for. She always gave and gave to me even when it was for the wrong reasons. I love you forever and ever mom and you will never be forgotten.

Kalven (friend): l will miss one of her favorite things, rubbing lotion on her back. Morning and evening kisses. I treated her like a queen. She deserved to be treated that way because of the way she treated me. We truly loved each other.

Aunt Louise: Bootsie had the kindest heart in the world. A heart made of gold that will be truly, truly be missed. Bootsie had a playful side too.  Sometimes I would walk by her room and tease her and she would stick her tongue out at me and laugh and we would make funny faces at each other. .Bootsie would help anyone in need.  If Bootsie loved you then she loved you with everything in her heart.  She never had a bad word to say about anybody.  No Drama.  That’s why it was so easy for her to get along with everyone and everyone loved her.

Izreal: Please donate for my mom because she didn’t deserve to die like that. She loved everybody and wanted everybody happy. Her life was cut short due to the Corona Virus, Covid19. Please donate to help cover her funeral expenses.

How Your Donations are Handled:  JoAnn Knight is the campaign organizer for her cousin Bootsie.  Tyisha Davis is Bootsie's sister.   She is a team member and the campaign beneficiary.  As such, Tyisha will spend the funds on Bootsie's funeral/burial expenses.
