Memorial for Shawn Smith
Donation protected
It is with reluctance and a broken heart that I start this campaign. Our 34 year old son Shawn Smith passed away suddenly on January 3, 2021. He helped a close friend drive out of state for a job interview. While out of state, in Ohio, Shawn began to experience breathing difficulties. He passed out and was taken by ambulance to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio, where he later passed. We are truly devastated. In fact, we are still trying to come to grips with the news.
Shawn attended Florida Memorial College (Lion Pride), where he studied Music Performance. His passion was always music and his first love the saxophone. He comes from a family of musicians, but was the BEST sax player in the family.
Last year an acute illness altered Shawn's life; physically, emotionally and financially. Even still, he never gave up and was determined to reach his goals. He recently relocated to Jacksonville, FL and was excited about the new opportunities of his move. Unfortunately the promise of what could have been will not be realized here on earth, but heaven has an awesome new saxophone player.
Shawn leaves behind an 8 year old son that now has to grow up without his dad. I have to say it again, our family is devastated by his sudden passing. We would like to bring Shawn back home and give him a proper funeral and burial. Unfortunately Shawn did not have health or life insurance. We need urgent assistance with his transportation back to Florida, funeral and burial costs. Your donations of any amount are needed and greatly appreciated. In addition, we ask that you please PRAY for our family.
Thank you,
James Smith & Family
