Memorial Bench for John H. Brown

Donation protected
Almost 1 year ago, my dad lost his battle with pulmonary fibrosis. He had a very rare disease, systemic schleroderma, that caused the hardening of his skin and the tissue in his lungs. This lead to the development of the pulmonary fibrosis. If you knew my dad, you knew how much he loved music. A few years ago, the schleroderma made it more and more difficult to play music for him. That didn't stop him from enjoying listening to it, especially The Dead. He had a great love for Jerry Garcia and The Grateful Dead. Not only did he have every live show recorded, but he also wore almost exclusively Jerry Garcia neckties (based off of the book of Jerry's art that was released after Jerry died, which he also owned) when it came time to dress up. He passed this love of music and The Dead onto me and my brothers. Since times were rough for them when he, passed, there was no life insurance or funds to speak of to create a memorial placard or something of the sort.

During the past 7 months, my wife and I have found respite in a park near our house that has lovely trails and a ton of flora and fauna to watch as you explore. I would like to have a bench installed in that park and found out that the cost for a memorial bench is only $750. I have already applied for the bench and they're bringing it up for review at the next parks meeting in November. They don't see any reason why it wouldn't be accepted. Now, if times were different, and I was still making my full income, I wouldn't even ask for assistance with this memorial. But here we are, my industry shut down and no restart in sight for quite a long time to come. So I am asking if you can spare a few bucks, to please help me get the funds for a memorial bench in my dad's honor.

The bench will read "In Memory of John Brown 'Let There Be Songs To Fill The Air'". That line is fro Ripple by The Grateful Dead. That song always make me thing of my dad and fond memories of listening to music with him growing up. I hope that this bench will be able to provide anyone passing through the park with a moment's rest and the ability to reflect on whatever they need or to just sit and enjoy the sounds of nature. I know that I will love to visit this bench and be reminded of my dad sitting on the radiator (to keep his butt warm) in the dining room playing his guitar and singing.
