MEMORIAL BENCH FOR JEFFREY SCOTT IN MCFADDEN PLAZA

This new year, 2019, will mark 5 years since Jeffrey lost his battle with pancreatic cancer.  Jeffrey’s creativity, friendly spirit and his passion for the arts in our community touched many people throughout his life.  Jeffrey was a talented director, actor, lighting/set designer and tech director for many theater companies, as well as a mentor to the youth in the community. He was integral in building the Carson City arts community as Chair of the Carson City Arts & Culture Coalition.  The world is a better place for him having lived in it.

Every year I think about how we can honor him and his contributions to the community.  It seems it mostly happens when I am downtown at some community event or sitting at McFadden Plaza having a glass of wine or eating ice cream in the sunshine with the grand-kids.  These are the things Jeffrey would have loved!  Now that some time was gone by since his passing, it is only fitting that he be formally remembered in the town he loved so much!

We are raising money for a bench in McFadden Plaza memorizing Jeffrey and his contributions to Carson City.  It will be in the heart of McFadden Plaza where so many celebrations and festivals are held.  Our hope is that others will sit at his bench and enjoy a place of comfort in the sunshine, relax, talk, laugh and enjoy beautiful Carson City.  Jeffrey would approve!

The total cost is $1400.00 including bench, plaque, inscription, shipping and installation.  Any additional money raised will go to the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center where Jeffrey received support, comfort and love from the amazing staff during his treatments there.  The Cancer Center and Carson-Tahoe Hospital staff were a lantern to us in the darkest days of our lives.

Thank you in advance for your support and being a part of Jeffrey’s life and memory.

Live and love…no matter what.

Destiny  (January 1, 2013)

"Walk the path of your destiny with purpose and an open heart."

I see this wisdom everyday as I wake and wander through my morning around the house. It hangs alone, reflected in the glass of a nearby mirror.

It is Tuesday, the first day of January 2013. A time of reflection and perhaps celebration. Today I celebrate the gift of Life and am humbled by its presence. Today I celebrate Family for I am truly gifted with the Love we share. Today I celebrate the light I receive from all of my friends.

It's been a very difficult 10 months since my recurrence not only for myself but my family as well, and I am humbled by the evidence that my work here on Earth is not complete. I cannot find the words to express the love and support of my beautiful Wife Carol and wonderful Daughters Tara and Sierra. Thank you for believing in me and surviving this along side of me.

As long as I have the chance to love, be loved and open my heart to others as they open their hearts to me and my family, I will be forever grateful for Miracles, however we choose to perceive them.

Today I feel as though I have been walking the path of my destiny and am filled with stars to know that I do not walk alone when I see your reflection in the glass on the wall.

Happy New Year everyone!
