Can you imagine being diagnosed with head and neck cancer, then lung cancer, going through chemo and radiation, and ultimately gaining custody of 2 young grandchildren in the span of 19 months? Add to this, the place you are living is now unlivable. It is falling down around you, water has flooded the back room from a bad leak, bugs are everywhere, the water will not turn on, and the electricity will be cut off in two weeks.
Cindy King needs a safe place to live and raise her grandchildren. In April 2017, Cindy got a call from Florida Department of Children and Families that her 4 year old grandson Cayden and her newborn granddaughter Cailynn (who tested positive for substances at birth) would be taken into protective care if she did not get to the hospital within hours to pick them up. She has been raising them on her own ever since. They are thriving. They are happy and healthy. She has devoted her life to giving them the best life she can. Cayden, who is in kindergarten, got a scholarship to an amazing Christian school. He loves school and has made wonderful friends. Cailynn is healthy and growing. This is a long way from the horrible circumstances these two precious kids were in previous to Cindy’s intervention.
Yes, they need a safe place to call home. Cindy is not asking for much. Just a decent travel trailer/camper that she can park at an Oviedo (or Seminole/Orange County) RV Park. She has been saving every penny she can in order to get her and the kids out of their current situation. She has done without so many things to make a better life for her grandkids, all the while battling cancer on her own. She has many wonderful friends from the church community helping out where they can but this request will take a lot of people.
Her church has taken on the role of finding a travel trailer/camper for her. Please consider giving up a fancy coffee or a nice meal this week to help Cindy and the kids. If everyone pitches in, we can make this happen before Oct. 31.
If you have been blessed with a safe place you can call home, then please help this tiny family get their tiny home. For $25 you can buy 1 square foot of a 400 sq. ft. travel trailer. Even giving up a $5 coffee today and giving towards this cause will add up.
