Melody's Cancer Fight

In December of 2017, Melody was diagnosed with oral and neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma. Her condition was very severe. Leading up to her surgery, she was very ill and could barely talk. Her surgery included pulling her bottom teeth, the removal of her jaw bone along with her lip and chin. The surgeon had to cut ear to ear and down the center of her neck to remove her lymph nodes. The reconstructive surgeon had to take bone, nerves, tendon and fatty tissure to reconstruct her jaw and jawline. They took nerve, tendon, fatty tissue, and skin from her forearm to reconstruct her lip and chin. Melody still needs surgery to recreate her lipline and liposuction to form her jawline for possible dentures in the future. Following her surgery in January 2018, Melody has a long road to receovery. She will begin radiation for 15 minutes a day, 5 days a week, for 6 weeks. Despite her condition, Melody remains in good spirits and prays each day for a strong recovery.
